My Dog (part 1) by David
Three weeks ago I got a dog, a beagle. I now advise eveyone with depression to get a dog! I used to eat before I went to sleep in my bed.....then I would fall asleep listening to the Jack Benny tapes that I have. Well, not any more. Now I just lie down with my dog and fall asleep.......very peacefully.
I spent years debating with myself about whether a dog would be more trouble than it was worth due to taking them out to potty, barking, etc. When I got my beagle, Missy, all those things became important to me and weren't just a hassle.
Believe me, if I had told you some time ago that I would let a dog wake me at 4:30 in the morning to potty or eat, you would have thought I was nuts! (I don't work, VA disability) It is just so loveable the way she comes over and puts her little head on my neck and makes her little whining noise.
We are bonded and THAT makes the difference. I want to take care of her......she is very special.
